Land Design Collaborative, Inc. was founded in 1986 by James C. Gamble (President) and Robert W. Zolomij (Vice President), who remain the principals to this day.

   Educated at the University of Michigan, Jim Gamble is a CLARB Certified Landscape Architect and is registered landscape architect in the states of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Prior to founding Land Design Collaborative, Jim was a Vice President at Teska Associates in Evanston, IL. Prior to that, he was a Senior Associate at Barton-Aschman Associates, also in Evanston, IL, and earlier worked for Bircher-Bonnell Associates in North Canton, OH, where he was a Senior Landscape Architect. Jim has been a longstanding member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and has in the past been president of the local Illinois chapter. He is also a member of the American Planning Association and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Bob Zolomij earned a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois, and is a registered landscape architect in Illinois. Before creating Land Design Collaborative with Jim, Bob was with Harland Bartholomew & Associates in Northbrook, IL, where he was a Vice President. He has also been a Senior Associate at Barton-Aschman Associates of Evanston, IL and a Landscape Architect at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago, IL. For over 10 years, Bob was an Associate Professor of the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois, in Urbana, IL. Additionally he worked as a Senior Site Planner for the Bucks County Planning Commission in Doylestown, PA. Like Jim, Bob is also a past president of the Illinois chapter of ASLA, and is a member of the Midwest Institute of Park Executives.   

  

Steven J. Paukstis joined Land Design Collaborative as a Principal Architect in 1994; he studied landscape architectural science at the University of Illinois and is a registered landscape architect in Illinois and Iowa. Prior to joining the firm, Steve worked as a landscape architect for the Des Plaines Park District, Des Plaines, IL. He was also a Senior Associate at Teska Associates in Evanston, IL, a Senior Associate at Booker Associates in St. Louis, MO, and started his career as a Landscape Architect at Harland Bartholomew & Associates, also in St. Louis.
Timothy K. Aiken is a registered landscape architect in the state of Indiana. Tim has worked for Land Design Collaborative since 1997. Earlier he worked for Odle McGuire and Shook Corporation, Indianapolis, IN as an Associate, and before that he was an Associate at MDG and Associates in Denver, CO. Tim is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.   
   Tomas E. Brokaw joined Land Design Collaborative in early 2006. He earned a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota in 2005, and also holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science, awarded in 2001 from Michigan Technological University. In 2004, Tomas worked as a Cartographic Technician at Keweenaw National Historical Park in Calumet, Michigan, and was an independent Landscape Designer and Construction Supervisor in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 2003 to 2005.
E. Michael Asbury obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kentucky in 2000, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in 2004. He relocated to the Chicago area in 2006 and joined Land Design Collaborative as an Associate in 2007 after working fpr the Lakota Group. Mike has expertise with Photoshop and graphics. His past projects have included the Deerfield Community Center Playground and the Club Lands at Gilberts.   
   Scott S. Lucchetti joined Land Design Collaborative in July 2007. He graduated from the Univresity of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture. Scott had a two-summer internship with a design-build firm in South Barrington, Illinois. He has been a member of ASLA since January 2008.
Robin A. Kopel also joined Land Design Collaborative in early 2006. Robin has a long history as an administrator and was a Senior Administrative Assistant at Edwards & Kelcey in Boston for over five years. She has extensive knowledge of CSI specification requirements and AIA contract documents. She was also a typesetter by trade for many years and is an expert in Microsoft applications.
